Alumni Association Board of Directors’ Support of
Alumni and Saint Thomas Academy

The primary goal of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors is to invite, involve and inform the alumni, so to foster relationships that will in turn, support the mission of Saint ThomasAcademy.  The 31-member Board has five regularly scheduled meetings and numerous committee meetings during the year.  The Alumni Board currently sponsors the following activities:

1. Alumni Tailgate Homecoming Gathering

2. Alumni Holiday Gatherings

3. The Faculty/Staff Appreciation Party – A party with free food, beverages, and prizes for all faculty and staff.

4. The Alumni Sons Endowed Scholarship Fund – This fund, created and funded annually by the Alumni Association, enables cadets to attend the academy through financial aid.  The Alumni Association is currently funding six life insurance policies on past presidents, which are owned by, and payable to, the Alumni Sons Fund.

5. STA Auction support – Promotes and invites alumni to participate in the Family Night of the auction.  The Alumni Association purchases an ad in the Auction catalog, underwrites the Family Night Heads and Tails game, and sponsors tables at the gala dinner.

6. Alumni Weekend – a four-day event with 11 simultaneous class reunions, over a dozen private parties, and over a thousand people involved.

7. The Hames Alumni Honors Award – Seeks to give due recognition to those alumni who have exemplified the ideals of Saint Thomas Academy, and in doing so, distinguished themselves in their communities

8. The Alumni Golf Tournament – 120+ golfers play in a fun tournament with many prizes (The Board has started what may be the Saint Thomas Academy Golf Invitational, that may be a kick-off for the Annual Fund).

9. Crack Squad Anniversary Reunions

10. The Seniors Induction Ceremony and Breakfast – Each year the Alumni Association president formally invites the graduating seniors into the Alumni Association, and the Association sponsors a breakfast program.

11. Underwrite VISTA activities – The Board has sponsored post-event receptions and cast parties for the student drama group, VISTA.

12. Funding of various projects – Through the years, the Alumni Association has funded athletic equipment for the downhill ski team, a color cover for the Cadence, a nature path through the woods, construction of wood duck houses at the lake, expenses of the spring Senior Day, a portion of the sound system in the new stadium, a portion of a large tent to be used for all-weather activities, new trophy cases in the school and many other student and staff projects.

13. We are supporting the creation of the Honor Guard Society that will formally recognize and promote the Honor Guard and its alumni through programming.

14. Career Night – The Alumni Association provides speakers in ten different professions to talk with interested students and their parents.
