Quiz Bowl and Knowledge Bowl
Quiz Bowl and Knowledge Bowl is a sport for the mind. It provides a format for student growth centered on academics. It generates the kind of attention for bright students that is normally reserved for star athletes. For those who participate, it sends the message "It is cool to be smart."
Quiz Bowl and Knowledge Bowl are interdisciplinary academic contests designed for high school students. During a meet, teams of four students compete in written and oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning.
Questions are developed from over 15 curriculum areas, including math; science; national and world affairs; art and music; geography; U.S. and world history and world languages. Questions test students' recall, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Participation takes quick thinking and teamwork and like all team sports, students learn to work together to reach their goal.
Open to all students, grades 7 - 12; just show up!
