Marisa Brouse is a certified athletic trainer who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2008. She went on to earn her Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine at Western Michigan University in 2010 with focused research in Therapeutic Ultrasound and intramuscular blood flow.
During her undergraduate years, she also was a student athletic trainer for the J. Robinson Intensive Wrestling Camps. As a graduate assistant at Western Michigan University she was an athletic trainer for The Sports Medicine Clinic at WMU and Western Michigan University’s Dance department. Marisa joined Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists and Saint Thomas Academy in July of 2010.
Margarita Sevilla, M.D., Team Physician
Dr. Margarita Sevilla is a board certified sports medicine physician who specializes in the non-operative treatment of athletes and orthopedic injuries. Dr. Sevilla earned her medical degree at the prestigious Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. She went on to complete her residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, Dr. Sevilla completed the highly regarded sports medicine fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis in 2007.
Along with her busy clinical practice, Dr. Sevilla is actively involved in local and international athletic programs, both as an athlete and as a medical provider, including a recurrent role on the medical team for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. As a six time Ironman Triathlon finisher herself, Dr. Sevilla also brings a truly unique perspective to providing care for athletes of all levels.
In addition, Dr. Sevilla serves as the medical director for several programs. Dr. Sevilla is the Team Physician for Saint Thomas Academy High School in Minnesota. She also serves as the Medical Director for the YWCA Triathlon, and she is the Medical Director for Life Time Fitness, including coordination of entire medical team for the Life Time Minneapolis Triathlon.
Dr. Sevilla is fluent in both English and Spanish, and she joined Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists in 2010. She is also one of the only physicians in Minnesota who does Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound guided injections.
