Every May administrators and faculty present awards to students at an all-school assembly. These awards include All-State Athletic letters, Fine Arts awards, National Language awards, and the Christian Service Award.
Opus Sancti Thomae Award
The Opus Sancti Thomae award was established in 1992 to honor friends and affiliates of Saint Thomas Academy. This award recognizes both men and women who have made outstanding contributions to business, civic, church, educational and professional communities.
Fathers' Club Awards
The STA Fathers' Club presents three awards at its annual banquet. The awards recognize exemplary service to our community.
Edward G. Hames Alumni Honors Award
"Saint Thomas Academy, in creating the Alumni Honors Award, seeks to give due recognition to those alumni who have exemplified the ideals of Saint Thomas Academy, and in doing so distinguished themselves in their communities. Such alumni enrich the lives of those about them through their personal and family lives, or their professional occupations, or their civic leadership, or human welfare activities, or their intellectual or cultural pursuits, or their efforts to advance the goals of the Academy. In presenting this award, Saint Thomas hopes the example of the alumnus so honored will be a source of edification and encouragement to alumni, students, and their communities we all serve."
ST(M)A Fleming Alumni Veterans Award
In 2008, a new tradition began at Saint Thomas Academy – the Fleming Alumni Veterans Award. As a ROTC charter military institute, our list of graduates who have served this nation in our armed forces is long and distinguished. As a result, the STA administration approved a new award to honor our veteran graduates. The award is officially named the “Fleming Alumni Veteran Award,” or simply the “Fleming Medal” after Captain Richard Fleming, Class of 1935 and recipient of the Medal of Honor, and our highest decorated graduate.
Myser Family Foundation Teaching Excellence Award
A financial award was generously established by the Myser family to recognize teaching excellence at Saint Thomas Academy. STA Alumni celebrating their reunion years vote for two current or retired faculty who have served for more than ten years; the award is presented during Reunion/Homecoming Week. In addition, a committee comprised of alumni, parents, students, and faculty vote for two current faculty who have served for more than ten years; this award is presented during the convocation in May. Note: once a person receives the award she/he is removed from the voting ballot for a period of four years.
Athletic Hall of Fame
The STA Alumni Association created the Athletic Hall of Fame at STA to instill and preserve pride in the rich tradition of Saint Thomas Academy by celebrating the outstanding athletic accomplishments or contributions to the athletic history and traditions of the Academy by alumni athletes, their coaches, directors, advisors, and loyal supporters.
