Brian Edel Named Upper School Director

News Date : 04/24/2017

Edel_Brian.jpgSaint Thomas Academy Headmaster Matthew Mohs has determined that the best candidate to lead its Upper School is the man who has been doing that since last summer: Brian Edel, who will now drop "Interim" from his title to become Upper School Director.

“When one looks at the unique characteristics of the Academy, the importance of understanding the culture and traditions of the school, along with the opportunities to strengthen and improve the experience for all our students, it became clear to me that there was no better candidate for this position than Brian Edel,” said Headmaster Mohs.  “Brian has a long history of being an exceptional educator and leader in a multitude of positions and has demonstrated a passion for the mission of this school. The rest of the administrative team and I are excited about the prospect of working with Brian for many years to come,” said Headmaster Mohs.

Brian started at Saint Thomas Academy as the Dean of Students in 2011. He has close ties with the students from his administrative positions and is the moderator for Model UN and Crack Drill Squad. He had previously coached freshman basketball.

"The Academy’s long history and traditions, excellent academic program, and commitment to the formation of faith-filled, compassionate young leaders," said Edel, "are what drew me here in the first place.  I very much look forward to continuing the mission of Saint Thomas Academy in my new position."
