Saint Thomas Academy and Visitation School Collectively Raise More than $1.2 Million in 3rd Annual ‘Give Day’ Yesterday
Fundraising competition replaces Give to the Max Day participation
and nets $665,421 for STA and $593,913 for VIS
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn., Nov. 17, 2016 – During their third annual ‘Give Day’ fundraising competition, Saint Thomas Academy and Visitation School collectively raised $1,259,334, with Saint Thomas Academy winning the competition by raising $665,421. Visitation School raised $593,913. The two schools established Give Day in 2014 in lieu of participating in GiveMN.org’s Give to the Max Day.
“This year was a record-setting Give Day for both Saint Thomas Academy and Visitation School,” said David Hottinger ‘85, director of institutional advancement at Saint Thomas Academy. “The friendly competition encourages parents, students, alumni and friends of both schools to give generously, which they clearly did. We are extremely grateful for all the support.”
STA / VIS Give Day involves a bit more work than Give to the Max Day for the development staffs at both schools, as both work to secure matching grants and incentives to spur broad participation from their donor bases. Saint Thomas Academy’s total includes the following bonuses based on participation from its donors:
A $50,000 bonus for reaching the one-day goal of $500,000
A $50,000 match by raising $200,000 from the parent community
$5,000 and counting in the alumni class challenge -- $2,500 for each alumni class with 25 or more donors
$12,000 and counting in the young alumni challenge -- $100 for each donation from an alumnus in the classes of 2002-2016
Yet unknown is whether Saint Thomas achieved participation from 200 new donors to realize an additional $20,000 bonus.
