in 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn., Sept. 15, 2016 – Saint Thomas Academy announced today that the following seniors were named Semifinalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

  • William Mayleben
  • Michael Newcome

More than 1.5 million high school juniors in the nation entered the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school students, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. Commended students pool, which represents the top five percent of U.S. high school seniors, is also made up of the highest scoring entrants in each state.
