P. Amarasinghe ’12 wins Minneapolis Open Chess Championship
P. Amarasinghe ’12 won the Minneapolis Open Chess Championship (December 19-20, 2009), ahead of International Master Victor Adler (MN Open Champion), World Chess Federation Master Sean Nagle (MN State Champion), National Master Kevin Wasiluk, and a number of other National Experts. Amarasignhe scored 2.5/3.0 in his games against the three masters. He beat IM Victor Adler and NM Kevin Wasiluk. He drew his final round against FM Sean Nagle. Prashantha’s final score was 4.5/5.0. The three masters tied for the second place with 4.0 points each.
M. Dahl ’12 did well too, scoring 3.5/5.0. He drew his 4th round game against FM Sean Nagle and lost an almost-drawn game to IM Victor Adler in the final round.
