Highlights from the 2005-06 school year
The Debate team achieved a historic first when they qualified two policy teams for the National Forensic League tournament. One team won the Central Minnesota District Qualifying tournament with an undefeated record.
The Knowledge Bowl team placed first in Minnesota out of 31 high schools competing in the on-line Knowledge Master Open. The team placed fifth in the country out of 800 high schools.
The Quiz Bowl team won the State Championship for the second year in a row. The team placed fourth out of 101 teams in the National Championship.
The Quiz Bowl team also won the inaugural Face off Minnesota High School Quiz Bowl Championship. The Championships brought together the top 16 teams in the state for a competition to determine the best team.
The Mock Trial team was undefeated for the regular season.
The Experimental Vehicle Team won another national title at the 2006 Solar Bike Rayce in Missouri.
The Experimental Vehicle Team won the 2006 Dell-Winston School Solar Car Challenge or the second year in a row.
The CHOOSE Group testified at the Mendota Heights City Council meeting about making the city's parks smoke-free. Their work gained the attention of State Representative Rick Hansen. Hansen invited the students to the Capitol to receive a house resolution commending their work. CHOOSE moderator, Mike Coyne, was named a Minnesota Association of Resources for Recovery and Chemical Health counselor of the year.
The Rifle Team qualified for the second year for the Western Regional Markmanship Championships in Colorado. The team placed 14th out of 67 teams.
A VISTA Band member won a place in the All-State Band as a percussionist.
