Parent/Teacher Conferences
First semester conferences are Wednesday, November 11 and Thursday, November 12, 2009.
Wednesday's conferences are 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Thursday's conferences are 2:30 - 5:30 p.m.
You should enter the school at the main entrance to pick up your son's schedule, a master sheet explaining where each teacher is stationed, and a name tag. Teachers will be seated by department. I encourage you to make every attempt to attend conferences and visit as many teachers as possible, including the teachers for whom your son is doing well.
We allow five minutes for individual conferences. If more time is needed, please schedule an appointment with the teacher for another time. Thank you for being respectful of those parents waiting in line. We want as many parents as possible to have the opportunity to visit with their son's teachers. I also encourage parents to use our on-line grading system (PowerSchool) to monitor homework and tests.
Coffee will be available.
There is NO school on Friday, November 13.

Here are some tips (from Education Minnesota) to help you make the most of your visits with your son's teachers:
1. Spend time with your son before conferences and talk about any concerns he would like you to discuss with the teacher.
2. Monitor your son's activities and progress in all subjects. Ask your son about the subjects he feels good about and those where he thinks there might be a need for help.
3. Prepare a list of questions that will get to the heart of how well your child is doing in school.
4. Ask instructors what is being done in the classroom to deal with any developmental or behavioral issues.
5. Talk with your son immediately after conferences, stressing both the positive items and any problem areas.
6. Stay in contact with your son's teacher to monitor any changes in how your son is performing.
7. Work with your son's teachers to create a plan to deal with any problematic issues.
8. Make homework a top priority.
