April 12, 2010 Auction E-News

Attention Auction Passengers!

Captain Scott here with your FINAL, yes your Final, boarding instructions for the 2010 Community Auction. I know everyone is back from vacation all tan and rested and ready to party with friends, so get excited – Auction Week is here!

The Now Departing Auction closes Tuesday, April 13, at noon. I know most of you didn’t even come close to spending your entire vacation budget so why not place the winning bid on some cool items? New items have even been added so check them out and bid on the Now Departing Auction.   And, be sure to see all the great Let’s Party! activities – sign up online to reserve your spots.

I’ve had lots of questions on dress code. Gala guests please dress business smart to black tie. Family Night volunteers and guests: casual and comfortable is a must. In fact, some of your beach clothes that never made it out of the suitcase are cool, too. Speedos excluded (sorry to disappoint)! Volunteers, please see below for a note from your coordinators, the Farleys and the Lees.

Space is limited but YES we do still have space available for the Gala dinner. Mail in your registration or register online   so you don’t miss out on what is shaping up to be the bash of the year!

I really want to encourage everyone who can possible attend to do so. So much work has gone into this Auction Weekend and not only do we all believe in the cause but it really is going to be full of fun and surprises.

The Auction Staff would really like to thank all of our gracious friends who have donated either precious time or auction items and also to those who have already bought raffles and put in bids on our online auctions. To those Gala guests who have purchased tickets and tables for the big night, thank you so much in advance and get ready for an incredible evening.

Many volunteers have spent the past several months working hard to make this weekend amazing and I obviously can’t name them all but they are listed in the Auction Catalog so please say a big thank you if you see them.

There are a few other people that Captain Scott does need to tip his hat to. The Auction Co-Chairs: Brian and Peggy Reagan, Eric ‘82 and Kathy Schneeman, Jim and Mary Waldvogel and Dan and Mary Jeanne Schneeman have been incredible. Their hard work and passion for this year’s event will make the Auction Weekend one to remember. Thank you also to the entire STA Staff for all their hard work, especially to the Development Office, for allowing their space to be invaded by auction chaos. Last but not least a huge thank you to Wendy Hanson, Mary Culbertson and to the real pilot of this show (yes I’m not a real Captain) Jodie Whaley for their ongoing dedication to this event.

Okay, it’s now time to party! Please grab all your items from under the seats in front of you and from the overhead compartments and join us this weekend for all the festivities. I will open the doors soon and the next time you see Captain Scott it will be live and in color (assuming my tan doesn’t fade too much) guiding you through your auction weekend.
