Rifle Team Places Tenth at Western Regional
Championships in Colorado Springs
In December 2007, the STA Rifle Team, along with 6,000 other cadets throughout the Western Region, shot in a Postal Competition, trying to win a top spot in their Brigade in order to attend the Western Regional Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. From the initial 6,000, 600 were chosen to compete, forming 150 teams.
Saint Thomas Academy’s team consisted of B. Bowersox ’09 (Captain), W. Sullivan ’09 (Captain), E. Mitchem ’09, D. Zimmermann ’10 and N. Boerboon ‘11.
On February 20, the team, along with Coach CW4 Paul Preblich, and parents Bill Sullivan (STA Class of 1969) and Steve Boerboon, traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for the multi-day competition. The team placed tenth in the Sporter Category among all the Army teams.
Chief Warrant Officer Preblich is pleased with his team’s performance. "This is the fourth year we have participated in this event and each year we get closer to winning. Last year we were 14th, I am looking forward to next year’s event and the real possibility of placing in the top three!"
