Alumni Association Board of Directors’ Support of
Alumni and Saint Thomas Academy
The primary goal of the Alumni Association is to Invite, Involve and Inform Saint Thomas (Military) Academy Alumni, so as to foster relationships that will in turn, support the mission of Saint Thomas Academy. The Board of Directors of the Alumni Association has ten regularly scheduled meetings and numerous committee meetings during the year. The Alumni Association currently sponsors the following activities:
1. Homecoming/Alumni Weekend a four-day event in which all Alumni are invited back to STA for the memorial Mass, the Hames Award ceremony, a cadet review, the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the Stag, class reunions, golf, class parties, an Alumni Mass and memories.
2. Alumni Open – 140+ golfers play in a fun tournament with many prizes to raise money for the Alumni Sons Endowed Scholarship Fund.
3. Alumni Corps - an improved class agent/class representative system.
4. Alumni Sons Endowed Scholarship Fund. This Fund, created and funded annually by the Alumni Association, enables cadets to attend the Academy through financial aid.
5. STA Athletic Hall of Fame - Acknowledges the achievements of athletes, coaches, directors, trainers, administrators or other supporters who have made salutary or exemplary contributions to the success, administration, and/or traditions of the Academy athletic programs.
6. Edward G. Hames Alumni Honors Award – Seeks to give due recognition to those alumni who have exemplified the ideals of Saint Thomas Academy, and in doing so, distinguished themselves in their communities.
7. Myser Foundation Teaching Award - Acknowledges the achievements of current and former faculty members who are identified by alumni as excellent role models and as having a life-long positive influence on the lives of the alumni.
8. Faculty/Staff Appreciation Party – A party with free food, beverages, and prizes for all faculty and staff.
9. STA Auction support – Promotes and invites alumni to participate in the Family Night of the auction. The Alumni Association purchases an ad in the Auction catalog, underwrites the Family Night Heads and Tails game, and provides volunteer bartenders who donate their tips to the Auction.

11. Seniors Induction Ceremony and Breakfast – Each year the Alumni Association President formally invites the graduating seniors into the Alumni Association, sponsors a breakfast program and gives each senior a composite class photograph.
12. Underwrite VISTA activities – The Board has sponsored post-event receptions and cast parties for the student drama group, VISTA.
13. Funding of various projects – Through the years, the Alumni Association has funded athletic equipment for the downhill ski team, new football helmets, a color cover for the Cadence, a nature path through the woods, construction of wood duck houses at the lake, expenses of the spring Senior Day, a portion of the sound system in the new stadium, a portion of a large tent to be used for all-weather activities, new trophy cases in the school, military guidons, and many other student and staff projects.
14. We are supporting the creation of the Honor Guard Society that will formally recognize and promote the Honor Guard and its alumni through programming.
15. Internship Program – The Alumni Association is instituting a program which will bring together alumni employers and recent alumni collegians for internships.
