Senior Leadership Retreat
On September 2, 2009, the Class of 2010 traveled to the Saint Paul Seminary for a day of discussion and reflection. Separately, alumni Vince Flynn '84 and Chris Morrissey '03 talked to the students about what it means to be a leader and the many areas where one can be a leader in life. Students had small group discussions about "what is the most important quality of a leader?" and "what is an effective way to practice leadership?"
Students and administrators all agreed that it was a very beneficial way to begin the school year. Seniors were challenged to think about how they wanted to be leaders in school to the underclassmen and how they wanted to be leaders in their life beyond school. Students filled out cards about their goals for their senior year and what values and ideals they will practice to achieve those goals. These cards will be given back to each student as a "touchstone" later in the school year.
The day ended with a closing ceremony in the Seminary Chapel where students and staff prayed together and the seniors received the newly-created John Ireland Ribbon for Senior Leadership.
