2009 LENTEN ACTIVITIES
FOOD COLLECTION FOR NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE
During the week of March 2nd, students picked up packs of 10 grocery bags. They were instructed to advocate for the hungry by bringing these bags to neighbors and telling them about needs in our community. Neighbors are then asked if they would kindly fill the bags with food. Students picked up the bags by March 5th, and the Neighborhood House picked up the collected food on March 9th from STA. More information about Neighborhood House can be found at www.neighb.org. Update: Neighborhood house announced that STA had the largest collection by a single group in its history!

Proceeds will go to Catholic Relief Services. Students 14 and older are invited to participate. Permission slips are required and can be picked up from Ms. DeWitt in Room 209. For more information visit www.foodfast.org

BOWL MAKING and SOUP DINNER
BOWL MAKING: Students gathered on Saturday Feb. 28th and will gather again on March 4th to make soup bowls from clay. Under the instruction of Ms. Jerri Neddermeyer, students have an opportunity to learn some basic pottery making skills. Over the next couple of weeks, the bowls will be glazed and fired. Students, parents and families are welcome to join in the bowl making on Wed., March 4th from 2:45 to 5:30 in the STA cafeteria.
SOUP DINNER: Monday April 6th, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
The bowls will be sold (along with a number of pottery items) at a soup dinner held in the STA cafeteria. Proceeds from the sales will support Sharing and Caring Hands , a organization that serves the needs of the hungry in the Twin Cities. The soup will be provided by STA faculty and parents. You're invited to join us for a simple meal of bread and soup.
Purchase bowls made at STA for $15 (which includes soup, bread and drink) or a soup dinner for $5. Update: With the help of our parents donating soup, Ms. Jerri Neddermeyer's guidance and contributions to the bowl-making, we raised more than $1500 for Sharing and Caring Hands!
