Endowments and Capital Gifts


Charles & Ellora Alliss Scholarship Fund
Established in 1973 by the Charles and Ellora Alliss Educational Foundation to support scholarship programs.

Alumni Sons Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 by the Saint Thomas Academy Alumni Association to assist qualified sons and grandsons of alumni.  A portion of the proceeds from the Alumni Association Golf Tournament are added to this fund each year.

David Bassett ’62 Cadet (Random Acts of Kindess) Fund
In honor of STMA alumnus and esteemed professor, David M. Bassett ’62, financial assistance is awarded to Saint Thomas Academy students who need help meeting any non-tuition financial responsibilities. The fund is maintained by employees and current students and will help cover the costs of books, uniforms, co-curricular fees, classroom materials, etc.

David Bassett ’62 Pride, Honor & Integrity Memorial Fund
Established in 2006 by family, friends, colleagues, former and current students in memory of David M. Bassett '62, Academy science teacher from 1975 to 2006. The words Pride, Honor and Integrity were chosen for the name of this fund because those were three qualities that David felt had been instilled in him as a graduate of the Academy and which he worked hard throughout his teaching career to develop in all his students.

Bednarczyk Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1996 by William ’62 and Collette Bednarczyk, to be awarded to a Catholic ninth grade student who has successfully completed the middle school curriculum at STA.

Billings Family Faculty Enhancement Fund
Established in 1993 by Paul Billings ’53 to provide funds for professional development and/or salary enhancement.

Sandy and Gerald Bilski ’53 Endowed Faculty Fund

Established in 2003 by Gerald Bilski ’53 and his wife Sandy.

Blake Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by Dr. and Mrs. David P. Blake, parents of Scott ’01, to provide financial assistance to qualified students at the Academy.

John S. Brennon ’43 Student Literary Program Endowment
Established in 2002 by a gift from the estate of Edna B. Brennon, in memory of her son John ’43, to provide for funding of future yearbooks or special student literary programs.

Andrew H. Brown '02 Memorial Fund

Established in memory of Andrew H. Brown, Class of 2002, who died suddenly during his freshman
year of college from a previously unknown heart condition.  This fund was established by family
and friends through memorial gifts in Andrew’s memory to assist a student who could not otherwise afford to attend Saint Thomas Academy, a school Andrew loved.

Matthew D. Butler ’54 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by Matthew D.’54 and Joann Butler to provide tuition assistance to qualified students at the Academy.
          
Robert E. Byrne Endowed Academic Technology Fund
Established in 1999 through gifts from the Wells Family Foundation and the Wells Family Foundation Trust to maintain, upgrade, and/or procure new academic technology for the benefit of students and faculty.

Thomas R. Byrne ’79 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Nancy and Steven Hanousek ’78 in memory of Thomas R. Byrne ’79.

Thomas L. Carlin ’39 Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by Tom’s widow, Verle Carlin, and his siblings, Lucia Carlin Seidel, Patricia Carlin and Julian P. Carlin ’53, to memorialize Tom’s outstanding accomplishments while at Saint Thomas Academy, during his military service in World War II, during a distinguished career as publisher of the Saint Paul Dispatch and Pioneer Press and for his many civic involvements.  This scholarship is to be awarded each year to the student who demonstrates financial need, has the highest military rank and the highest academic rank among those seniors requiring financial assistance.     

John E. Carroll Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1992 by David Carroll ’64, in memory of his father, John E. Carroll.

Centennial Faculty Chair
Established by the Class of 1951 and the Elizabeth C. Quinlan Foundation to honor and recognize Mina D. Cutting, long-time registrar and “friend” to the cadets.

Centennial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1985 from gifts received for student financial aid from the Centennial Capital Campaign.

Samuel V. Ciresi Student Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 by Michael Ciresi ’64, and family in honor of his father, Samuel V. Ciresi.  The student recipient must participate in either football, hockey, baseball or basketball; maintain a minimum B average; and possess
leadership potential.

Class of 1936 Robert R. Felker Scholarship Fund
Established by the class of 1936 in “honest tribute” to an esteemed teacher. 

Class of 1943 Reunion Scholarship Fund
Established in 1992 by members of the Class of 1943 in celebration of their 50 year reunion.

Class of 1944 Reunion Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by the Class of 1944 in celebration of their 50 year reunion.  

Class of 1949 Living Endowment

Established in 1991 by members of the Class of 1949 for student scholarship and faculty salaries in memory of deceased classmates.

Class of 1951 Golden Anniversary Fund for Faculty Enhancement
Established in 2001 by members of the Class of 1951 in honor of their 50 year reunion and in fond memory of the high caliber teachers who taught them when they were students at the Academy.

Established in 2002 by members of the Class of 1952 in honor of their 50 year reunion.

Established by a member of the Class of 1958 to recognize student academic achievement.

Class of 1959 Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by a member of the Class of 1959 who wishes to remain anonymous. 

Class of 1960 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by members of the Class of 1960, in memory of deceased classmates. 

Class of 1962 Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by a member of the Class of 1962 who wishes to remain anonymous. 

Class of 1972 Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1992 on the occasion of its 20th Class Reunion as an ongoing memorial to deceased class members.

Richard W. Clements ’69 Memorial Endowment
Established in 1982 by Kelly Michel ‘69 and members of the Class of 1969 in memory of
deceased classmate Richard W. Clements. 

Hamilton E. Cochrane Lecture Fund

Established in 1976 by John A. Cochrane in memory of his deceased brother, Hamilton Cochrane, who was the father of Academy alumni David ’72 and Mick ’75. Income from the endowment is to fund an honorarium to bring a person of stature to address the student body on the general topics of good government, citizenship, or patriotism.

Barbara  & James F. Corcoran ’51 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1998 during the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by James ’51 and Barbara Corcoran.

The Coss Foundation, Larry & Virginia Coss Endowed Faculty Development Fund

Established in 1997 by a gift to the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign.

Cragg Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by Robert C. Cragg ’33 and his brother Harold M. Cragg ’39.

William J. Culbertson Endowment Fund
Established in 1987 as an insurance trust, this fund honors the career contributions to the Academy of William Culbertson.

Dr. David E. Culligan ’55 St. Luke’s to St. Thomas Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by family and friends in memory of Dr. David E. Culligan ’55 to assist qualified students from St. Thomas More parish in St. Paul (formerly St. Luke’s), attend the Academy.

Lawrence J. ’52 & Mary Culligan Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 to assist qualified students entering the ninth grade.

Charles M. Denny, Jr. ’48 Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 to provide tuition assistance for minority students.

Doerr Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by Daniel L. Doerr ’64 and Christopher L. Doerr ’67.

Richard G. Donovan, Sr. ’36 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 by Eileen Donovan in memory of her husband, an alumnus and former trustee of Saint Thomas Academy.

Robert A. Donovan ’87 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by members of his class in memory of Robert (Rob) Donovan’87, who was killed in a tragic car accident five days after graduation, to assist a ninth grade student from Nativity parish in St. Paul.

Michael D. & Mary Doshan Scholarship Fund
Established in 1991 by the Doshans, parents of Mark ’88 and Brett ’92.

John A. & Julia M. Dowdle Leadership Fund
Established in 1992 by Dr. John A. Dowdle, parent and Trustee, in honor of his parents, to encourage students of color to enroll at Saint Thomas, and teachers of color to join the faculty.

Lois Engel Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 in honor of his mother by Stephen B. Engel ’81, to assist the son(s) of a single mother.

Erickson Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1996 by John Erickson ’64 and his family, John, Jr. ’91 and Joseph ’98.

Faculty Development Endowment

Established through gifts restricted to faculty development received from multiple donors.

Finley Memorial Fund
Established in 1998 by Michael F. Finley ’80 as a memorial to his mother, Mary Finley.

Robert P. Foussard ’72 Memorial Fund
Established in 2003 by friends and family in memory of Robert.

John C. Franceschin ’45 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by John Franceschin with a preference that it assist students from St. Helena’s parish school in Minneapolis when possible.
       
James S. Garberg, DSC, ’41 Commandant’s Legion of Valor Award and Medal
Established in 1998 by James Garberg ’41 to honor and reward the top Leadership Development student in the Junior Class.  The award consists of a medal and payment of a portion of the senior year’s tuition.

Don Giefer ’41 Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by Don and Betts Giefer.

Lyle Gilbertson French Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established in memory of Lyle Gilbertson, French language teacher from 1983-1992, to be presented annually to a senior who has demonstrated exceptional competency in the study of French.

Dr. Richard P. Goblirsch ’47 Endowed Faculty Development Fund

Established in 1999 for the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by Dr. Richard P. Goblirsch ’47.

James G. ’51 & Virginia S. Grathwol Fund
Established in 1998 by James G. Grathwol ’51 for financial aid for young men from Annunciation Parish  in Minneapolis or other parishes in proximity to Annunciation.

John B. & Barbara Greving Endowed Faculty Development Fund

Established by the Board of Trustees in honor of and in recognition of the years of devoted service to Saint Thomas Academy by Headmaster John Greving and his wife Barbara in 1989.

Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The impetus to build a grotto dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary on the Academy grounds began in 1998 as a way to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Mothers’ Club.  Through the generosity of many donors, the grotto was completed and officially dedicated in 2001.  This fund was established to maintain the grotto and its surrounding site.

Christopher J. Hannigan ’85 Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1994 by the family, classmates, and friends of Chris Hannigan to remember his role and abilities as a leader of the Academy’s basketball program. 

Hanousek Family Endowed Faculty Development Fund
Established in 2001 by Steven ’78 and Nancy Hanousek.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Established in 1985 by an anonymous alumnus and his wife to assist students of Hispanic descent.

John G. Hoffner ’78 Memorial Fund
Established by John ’53 and Nancy Hoffner in memory of their deceased son.

Burton Hood ’37 Service Fund
Established in 2001 to purchase two new sets of rifles for the Crack Drill Squad, one for practice and one for performances, and to set up a permanent endowment to provide for the future needs of the Squad.  The fund is named in honor of Col. Burton Hood, Commandant of Cadets when the Crack Drill Squad began in 1937.

John R. Jacobs ’52 Memorial Fund

Established in 1998 by Michael Jacobs ’47 to honor the memory of his brother John ’52 and to recognize members of the faculty, past and present, who, as dedicated professionals, have assisted young men in the process of learning.

Paul Jansen ’37 Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by Paul’s family to honor his memory as the first cadet Commander of the Crack Drill Squad.  The recipient will be a member of the Crack Drill Squad.

Margaret & Paul C. Johnson ’38 Trust for Faculty Development

Established by a gift from the Johnsons’ estate.

Reverend George W. Keefe Endowment Fund
Established in 1991 for unrestricted endowment.

Marilyn & Laurence R. Kelly ’56 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1998 for the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by Laurence ’56 and Marilyn Kelly.

Harold J. Kinney Memorial Fund
Established in 1987 by Mrs. Madeleine Kinney in memory of her husband, Harold Kinney. 

Harold & Madeleine Kinney & Helen Kinney Kissane Scholarship Fund
Established in 1988 by Madeleine Kinney in memory of her husband, Harold.  The fund is to be used for a student who is paying a portion of his own tuition without the aid of additional scholarship.

Klein Tools, Inc. Faculty Development Fund
Established in 1982 by a gift to the Two Schools: One Goal Capitial Campaign from Mathias A. Klein, Jr. ’46 who was president of the firm founded by his grandfather in Chicago in 1857.

Stephen D. ‘84 & Michelle Koch Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by Stephen ’84 and Michelle Koch.

Thomas P. Krebsbach ’41 Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by Thomas P. Krebsbach, Sr., Class of 1941. 

Walter J. Lake ’55 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1995 by Walter J. Lake, Sr., ’55 to provide financial assistance to qualified students/athletes at the Academy.

Frank & Elaine Lang Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by Frank and Elaine Lang to provide tuition assistance for students with demonstrated financial need who come from Our Lady of Grace Elementary School in Edina.  If, in any given year, there are no candidates from Our Lady of Grace who qualify for financial assistance, then tuition aid will be provided to qualified students of color from any Catholic elementary school.

Lee Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established, through numerous gifts from Mary Gerry and Thomas J. Lee ‘55 and Dr. Richard M. Lee ’47, in honor and in memory of their parents Drs. Bernard F. and Lucille Lee, their brothers Bernard F. Lee, Jr. ’42, Robert E. Lee ’43, Dr. James F. Lee ’45, Dr.  John A. Lee ’51, and their uncle Joseph Lee, a long-time employee of Saint Thomas Academy.  This endowment will provide tuition assistance to students in grades 9 through 12. 

Robert E. Leonard Estate Scholarship Fund
Established in 1981 and restricted by the Board of Trustees to function as endowment for financial aid to students.

Library Endowment
Established to support the purchase of library materials.

Linnihan Family Faculty Enhancement Fund
Established in 1991 by Rose and Gerald Linnihan, parents of Gerald, Jr. ’87 and Brian ’92.

Vernon J. Lovegreen ’57 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by his classmates and family as a living tribute to Mr. Lovegreen and in honor of his memory.  This scholarship is to be awarded annually to a junior or senior student in “good standing,” demonstrating need, good character and who is a member of the STA Rifle Team.

William S. Lund Scholarship Fund

Established in 1991 to provide anonymous emergency tuition assistance to a student whose parent or guardian passed away during the school year.

J. Raymond Lynard Endowment Fund
Established by a gift from his estate in 1990 to be used for unrestricted endowment.

Tom Malchow ’95 Silver Scholarship Fund

Established by Tom and his parents at the time of his silver-medal-winning performance in
the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.  The fund will help perpetuate the strong swimming tradition
at Saint Thomas Academy by providing tuition assistance for students who are
members of the Academy’s swimming program.

Nicholas J. Masciopinto ’03 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2005 by Nicholas’ family to honor his memory and assist other students to attend the
school he loved.  Nick died tragically as a result of an accident while hiking in Alaska in 2005.

Owen Masterson Endowed Academic Technology Fund
Established in 1998 by a gift from Masterson Personnel in memory of Owen Masterson.

Jerry Maybrey Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2004 by an anonymous donor as an expression of gratitude and appreciation for
Mr. Maybrey’s abilities and assistance as an outstanding leader and teacher of young hockey
players. The recipient will be a student with demonstrated financial need who is active in the
Academy’s hockey program.

Jean & Thomas J. McGough ’52 Endowed Faculty Fund
Established in 2002 by a gift from Jean and Thomas McGough ’52 in honor of his 50 year reunion.

McKasy Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by Bert J. McKasy ’60. 

McKenzie Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996  by Robert McKenzie, parent of Andrew ’81 and Robert ’90.

L. J. “Skip” McMahon Faculty Endowment Fund
Established by the Board of Trustees in honor and in recognition of the many years of dedicated service to the Academy by mathematics teacher and football coach “Skip” McMahon (1948-1984).

The William M. McLaughlin ’98 Endowed Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2003 by Will’s mother Judy McLaughlin, his brother David McLaughlin ’98 and members of the Class of 1998 in memory of Will who was killed in a plane crash which also took the lives of Senator Paul Wellstone and his wife and daughter and other campaign workers.  The recipient will be a young man who emulates the qualities demonstrated by Will's involvement in a myriad of activities at Saint Thomas Academy, especially in the public promotion of school spirit and an active involvement in school life in an attempt to improve the climate of Saint Thomas Academy.

Established in 2005 through a gift from the estate of  Lawrence H. Milliman ’68.
   
Joseph & Bertha D. Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by Thomas D. Miller ’61, in honor of his parents, Joseph and Bertha D. Miller. 

Herb ’45 & Betty Mischke Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 during the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign.

Moran Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 2007 by James and Dolly Moran to provide tuition assistance to students with demonstrated need.

William J. Moss ’39 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 by William J. Moss ’39.

Mullaney Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 1979 by Frank ’39, and his wife Patricia Mullaney.  Mr. Mullaney, a computer industry pioneer, founded Saint Thomas Academy’s financial aid program.

Nardi Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by Georgia and Joseph B. Nardi ’62, and their son, Joseph L. Nardi ’89, and his wife Jeanne. The recipient(s) must maintain a 3.0 or better average in Leadership Development and participate in at least one Academy sanctioned extra curricular activity.

Dr. William Joseph Norman, Sr. ’43 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by a gift from Dr. Norman’s estate.

I. A. O’Shaughnessy Student Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by the I. A. O’Shaughnessy Foundation. 

William A. Ott ’51 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1998 by Mrs. Janice A. Hathaway-Ott in memory of her husband, to provide tuition assistance for qualified students from Christ the King, St. Thomas the Apostle and Risen Christ schools.

Reverend William S. Ozark Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1994 by Mrs. Genevieve G. Leverone and Ms. Rose Ozark in honor of their brother, Father William S. Ozark, a long-time member of the Saint Thomas Academy faculty.

Douglas M. Palmer ’35 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1994 by Jean P. Palmer in memory of her husband, Douglas.

Thomas J. Pauly '55 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008 by members of the Class of 1955, the fund will be used for need-based financial
aid to students on the school newspaper or yearbook staffs.

Dr. Malcolm & Ruth Pearson Scholarship Fund
Established in 1987 by the estate of Dr. Malcolm Pearson.

Cyril P. Pesek ’20 Faculty Enhancement Fund

Established in 1992.

J. Jerome Plunkett ’42 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by the family and friends of Judge Plunkett.

John McVeigh Regan Tuition Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by John M. Jr. ’39 & Prudence Regan, in memory of Mr. Regan’s father, John McVeigh Regan. 

Col & Mrs. Clifford T. Riordan ’32 Endowed Faculty Development Fund
Established in 2002 by the Riordans in fond memory of the high caliber teachers who taught Col Riordan when he was a student at the Academy.

Established in l988 by Charles L. Ritten ’49 in honor of his parents.

J. Peter Ritten ’51 Family Faculty Achievement Fund
Established by J. Peter ’51 and Mary Ritten for faculty improvement and attendance at conferences.

Established in 1978 by J. Peter Ritten, Class of 1951.

Louis N. Ritten Company, Inc. Scholarship Fund

Established in 1978 through the auspices of the firm’s principals, Charles L. ’49, J Peter ’51, and

Archbishop John R. Roach Scholarship Fund

Established in 1998 by the William and Janet M. King Family Fund at the Saint Paul Foundation in honor of Archbishop John Roach, former Saint Thomas Academy Headmaster.

Rooney Family Student Assistance Scholarship Fund

Established in 1994 for the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by John F. ’46 & Kathleen Rooney 

Mary Catherine Rosacker Owens Memorial Fund
Established in 1999 by the William Owens III family and friends to assist the developmental needs of Academy students who have learning differences.

Chaplain (Major General Monsignor) Patrick J. Ryan ’19 Memorial Endowment
Established through a gift from the estate of Major General Monsignor Patrick J. Ryan ’19, U.S. Army Chief of Chaplains, to provide an annual award to a  student exhibiting academic excellence, military proficiency and leadership ability, and to perpetuate the memory of the priests of the diocese who have served their God and country in the United States Army.

STA Piano Fund
Established in 2001 through gifts from donors interested in supporting music performance and instruction.  The fund purchased a new grand piano and established an endowment to pay for continuing maintenance.

STA Policemen Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by Michael '78 & Mary Pat Wier to support qualified students whose parent is in law enforcement.

Dennis R. ‘34 & Timothy M. Scanlan ‘64 Families/George E. Langeland Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 by the Scanlan families.  The scholarship is to be awarded annually to honor the memory of Professor George E. Langeland, teacher and administrator at Saint Thomas Academy for over forty years.

George R. Schnell Scholarship Fund
Established in 1991 on the occasion of his retirement as Headmaster of Saint Thomas Academy. 
   
Christian Sirek ’89 Student Endowment Fund
Established in 1997 by Gary ’64 and Kathie Sirek in honor of their son, Christian Sirek ’89.
   
Steele Family Scholarship Fund
Tom '58 and Mary Steele in 2006 to provide one (1) full tuition scholarship to a student who qualifies for financial assistance and who participates in co-curriculars, specifically football. He need not be a starter, a star, or play a specific position, but must emulate the qualities of the Academy especially in the public promotion of school spirit, an active involvement in school life and show a willingness to challenge himself and others so that the Saint Thomas Academy Community and the world is a better place for all.

Michael & Marilyn Sullivan Scholarship Fund
Established in 1991 by Michael and Marilyn Sullivan, parents of Michael Jr. ’85, Daniel ’90, and Thomas ’99. Marilyn is a former Trustee and Mothers Club President with extensive family connections to the Academy.

Established in 1992 to ensure continual improvements to the STA Museum which opened in May, 1993.

Mary & James C. Schacker ’44 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1998 during the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by Mary and James C. Schacker ’44.

Mary & James C. Schacker ’44 Faculty Development Fund
Established in 1998 through a gift to the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign by Mary and James C. Schacker ’44.

Clemens ’23 & Minnie Schmit Scholarship Fund
Established in 1996 by Minnie Schmit in honor of her husband Clemens.

Schreier Family Faculty Development & Training Endowed Fund
Established in 1999 by Thomas S. Schreier, Sr. as part of the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign

William R. Selb Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 by a gift from his estate.

John K. Shea ’52 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002 by John’s widow, Beverly, in memory of her husband for the “morals and ethics he developed during his years at the Academy which gave him structure and discipline to be a good husband, parent and businessman.”

Cyril C. Sheehan ’25 Estate Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1995 by a gift from Mr. Sheehan’s estate.

Cyril E. ’37 & Alvira Sheehy Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 to be used for financial aid to deserving students.

Robert E. Short Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1996 by Mrs. Marion D. Short in memory of her husband, Robert.  Two of the Short’s sons are Academy graduates—Brian ’68 and Kevin ’71.  Brian has chaired the Academy’s Board of Trustees and Robert’s daughter, Marianne Short, is a former Trustee.

The Sinna Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 1993 by Dr. Lee C. Sinna, Class of 1964, in honor of his parents, Leo and Mary Sinna. 

Jerry ’53 & Delores Slawik Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by Jerry Slawik ‘53, and his wife Delores, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Saint Thomas Academy. 

Frank J. Spreitzer Memorial Fund
Established in 1991 to recognize the work done by Professor Frank Spreitzer as an instructor in the Science Department.

Maryalice Stifter Memorial Fund

Established by colleagues, former students and friends in memory of Maryalice Stifter, former member of the English department.

William G. ‘44 & Anne Stocks Scholarship Fund
Established in 1992 by Mr. and Mrs. William Stocks, Class of 1944.  The proceeds of this fund are to be used at the discretion of the Headmaster to provide tuition aid for students demonstrating solid academic achievement and the need for financial assistance to attend Saint Thomas Academy.

William F. Strub ’51 Family Endowed Faculty Enhancement Fund

Established by William Strub ’51 in 2002.

Dr. John & Margaret L. Sudor Scholarship Fund

Established in 1989, and at the discretion of the Board of Trustees, this fund is used for financial aid to students.

Vernon B. Thomas, Jr. ’52 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by Vernon B.Thomas, Jr. ’52.
   
John J. Trousdale ’81 Faculty Development Fund
Established by John Trousdale ’81 through a gift to the Pride & Promise Capital Campaign.

Trustees Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 1973 by the Board of Trustees for aid to deserving students.

Sylvester G. Turbes Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 by Patricia Turbes-Mohs and Matt Mohs ’90, as a “living tribute to the more than 50 years of service” Professor Turbes gave to the Academy.  It is awarded annually to the sophomore student who displays “good citizenship skills” and demonstrates financial need.

William J. Ward ’50 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2004 by the estate of the Reverend Austin T. Ward ’53 in memory of his brother, the Reverend William J. Ward ’50.

Walter L. Westline Memorial Endowment
Established in 1973 to honor long-time mathematics instructor, Walter L. Westline

Robert K. Wilhelmy Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by his family in 1999 in loving memory of Robert Wilhelmy, father of Thomas ’71,
Gregory ’73, Scott ’76, Todd ’83 and Bradley ’90.

James T. Williams, Sr. Foundation, Inc. Fund

Established in 1986 by the Williams and Linstroth families and the Creamette Foundation. 

Zirnhelt Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1994 by George and Sue Zirnhelt, parents of Anthony ’87 and Joseph ’91.
