On November 26, 2009, thousands of volunteers, including hundreds of STA cadets, employees, alumni and families, gathered to package and deliver meals to thousands of people in the Twin Cities.

How TMOW started: Bill Foussard (STA Class of 1972) and Barb Aslesen (mother of three STA sons) knew what it was like to have an enjoyable Thanksgiving meal with their families. Both began thinking of ways to help families and children, not as fortunate, have the same experience. Thus, the idea for Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels originated. The organization has grown from preparing 24 meals for 3 families on Thanksgiving Day in 1970, to preparing over 14,000 meals, delivered to over 2,400 families last year.
