Dear STA Parents:

Welcome to all new parents!  Every Friday during the school year we send out an e-newsletter and post the information on our Web site.  This e-newsletter is the first one using a new format so please be patient as I learn the system.

Contact Information/Health Forms Needed
If you have not yet done so, please complete and return the Health Form/Emergency Contact Information and the last page of the MSHSL Brochure right away.  And, if your son plans to play a fall sport and needs a physical, please be sure to schedule his appointment early so he may participate on the first day.

Openings in Middle School
We have openings in 7th and 8th grade for the fall.  If you know of someone who would like to attend STA, please let us know.  In appreciation for recruiting efforts, the admissions director offers a $50 tuition "scholarship" to those families who refer a new applicant to the Academy (and that student enrolls).  Visit our Admissions site to fill out the short referral form.

Host Family Needed
A potential student (an 8th grader from Mexico) is in need of a host family.  If you are interested, please contact Peggy Mansur in the admissions office - pmansur@cadets.com.

Round-Up Registration Days

A reminder to plan to attend one of the Round-Up days, August 5th or 11th.  The information that will be collected/distributed is posted online.

INFORMATION ABOUT FRESHMAN / NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
The LET Department will continue the mentorship program for all freshmen and new students during the 2010-11 school year.  As part of the program, freshman / new students will be assigned a senior that will serve as his mentor / “Big Brother” throughout the year.  The goals of the program are to provide a means for students to interact with “older peers,” alleviate fears, develop a sense of unity, and provide another opportunity for senior cadets to demonstrate developmental leadership.  The first activity of the mentorship program is the STA Freshman / New Student Orientation Day occurring on 27 August from 0800 until completed.  The schedule and more details are posted online.

FRESHMAN RETREAT
The retreat is from Saturday, August 28 until Sunday the 29th.  An informational letter was included in the June mailing to parents.  A permission slip was also in the mailing.  If you have not done so, please complete the permission slip and send it to school before August 9th.  If you need another copy, the form is available online.

INFORMATION FOR SENIORS FROM LTC DEPUGLIO

Friday, 20 August, 0700 is the Senior Workshop.  All seniors are highly encouraged to attend.  During this workshop, senior leadership positions will be selected for the upcoming school year and the cadet challenge physical fitness test is administered.  Uniform is PT for the fitness test and Class B for the workshop.  Regulation appearance standards are required.

Again, more tutoring will be available upon request.
