Saint Thomas Academy Middle School - a place for your son to belong
Middle School is a world of variety and vitality, and our program immerses students in grades 6-8 in a stimulating and challenging intellectual environment. At Saint Thomas Academy, every student can find a place to shine.
From Boys to Young Men
Middle School is a time of spectacular growth. Our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders leap ahead in maturity, interacting with friends and adults in new ways and making new discoveries about themselves. True enough, Middle School is a time of change—but these are transitions crucial to positive development.”
At Saint Thomas, our boys engage with wonderful challenges. They explore profoundly engaging works of literature and become practitioners of literature themselves. They take on research projects including National History Day, working with primary sources and learning good research practices. In math, they master new challenges, honing their algebraic skills. In the sciences, students learn more about how the world around them works through lectures, labs and discussions that involve problem solving, technological and inquiry-based approaches to learning. We stress a moral dimension to leadership; in theology classes, we seek to help young men be capable, just, compassionate and forthright citizens. Students are introduced to new languages and cultures and can choose to study French, Latin or Spanish
Outside the classroom, students take on leadership roles in our House system, on our stage with VISTA theater and music, and on our athletics fields. They participate in an ever-changing variety of mixed-grade clubs and activities—from Math Team and Knowledge Bowl to FIRST Lego League and Tech Challenge to Rifle team and Clay Target teams. Interscholastic sports become a part of each Middle Schooler's experience through a program that involves and supports athletes at every level.
In these years of personal discovery, the Saint Thomas Academy Middle School is fertile ground for discovering and exploring passions and purpose.
