4 year graduation planner

Students must successfully complete a minimum of the following academic courses, in ninth through the twelfth grade, for graduation.

*Most selective college expect four years of math, science and world language if available in high school.

All required courses listed are organized on a semester basis for grading purposes.  Grades received at the end of the first and second semester are FINAL grades for each semester.

Please note: AP, Dual Enrollment courses have an additional fee associated with the exam. Dual Enrollment courses allow students to earn college credit and receive a transcript directly from St. Mary's University of Minnesota or Saint Louis University, without leaving the STA campus.

• Write and deliver a senior speech to the student body and school community at Formation.

• Seventy (70) hours of service to the community.  Ten (10) hours can be completed here at school through Junior Achievement, Honor Guard, managing varsity sports teams, helping at summer sports camps, STA Auction, Feed My Starving Children, etc. These volunteer opportunities are considered "miscellaneous" service hours and are capped at ten. Thirty (30) hours must be spent at an approved place of worship, community programs serving the poor, elderly care facilities, mission trips, or non-profit agencies. These thirty (30) hours are completed between June 1st after sophomore year to March 1st of Senior year. The final thirty (30) service hours are completed at Senior Project during the last two weeks of May.  Every graduating Senior is placed at one of 40 sites and finishes the year serving the poor, elderly, and vulnerable. The STA Service Coordinator, Mr. Seidel, assists students in finding appropriate and meaningful service placements. 

• As a college preparatory school, Saint Thomas Academy values post secondary education.  As such, all seniors are required to complete at least one (1) application to a four-year college.  While Saint Thomas Academy recognizes that some students may choose to take a gap year for service, work, travel or athletic opportunities, it is important for each student to plan, prepare and set goals for his short and long term future.  College Counseling is part of each cadets' experience and the college counseling staff will assist cadets in planning their individual post-secondary needs.
