An employer interviewing a cadet alum
Ms. Deborah Edwards

Founded in 2011, the CadetWorks internship program has successfully placed more than 100 Cadet alumni into summer internships in their desired career fields. The Academy is one of only two high schools in the country to offer this type of career exposure to graduates. It is open to all alumni who are freshmen, sophomores or juniors in college, and provides valuable job-search skills in addition to internship opportunities. CadetWorks is currently run by the Advancement Department.

Each December, typically during colleges’ Christmas break, alumni return to the Saint Thomas Academy campus for a two-day CadetWorks event. Day one is a preparation session, when alumni gain tips on interviewing, resume building and general professionalism from a chosen speaker. The following day, they interview with the companies for which they want to work. They can interview for as many positions as they would like. Shortly after the interviews, companies contact the candidates chosen to move forward in the internship process.

“Since 2011, we have seen tremendous growth and interest from former Cadets who desire to jump start their careers and build their resumes. These internships have helped our alumni gain an edge by having valuable and relevant work experience in their fields, which often sets them apart from other candidates when interviewing for full-time positions in the workforce" said Luke Marks '11.

Careers in medical, accounting, financial and entrepreneurial fields represent many of the opportunities.  The program continues to grow and each year additional employers and alumni are added.
