Fall Athletics

We strongly encourage new students to get involved in a fall sport or activity. This is a great way to meet your new classmates. The Academy offers three fall athletics - cross country, football, and soccer. Details about each program are available by clicking the photos below or the links to the left.

2017 Fall Athletics

Every student grade 6-12 must read and complete the MSHSL Eligibility Brochure each year they are enrolled at STA. Students who have not completed the Eligibility Brochure and/or do not have a current physical examination and current immunization records on file are unable to participate or practice in any MSHSL activity. • Qualifying Physical Examination

All enrolled students grades 6-12 are required to have on file in the STA Health Office a physical examination that was completed within the last three years. Our school nurse will notify families when a student’s physical examination will need to be updated.

EVERY THREE YEARS: Physical Exam or send one from your doctor to nurse Lucy Poole at lpoole@cadets.com

• Sign up for a baseline test

The MSHSL requires football, soccer, hockey, alpine skiing, wrestling, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and pole vault athletes to take a baseline test once during the school year. The Minnesota Youth Concussion Law states that all baseline concussion testing must be supervised by an athletic trainer.

Limited testing will be available before the beginning of each season of sports but we highly recommend that all athletes in the listed sports take the test over the summer. The test will be administered in the Graphics Art room (VF201) in Flynn Hall. Click here to sign up for a testing time: August 2, 9. Please contact trainer Melissa Haupt at mhaupt@cadets.com or 651-683-1525 if you have questions.

• Athletic Cards

All student-athletes must have an Athletic Card (available on the first day of practice from the AD office) and give the card to the coach on the first day of practice/try-out. No athlete will be allowed to practice/try-out until the card is given to the coach.
