2015-16 School Year

Group Accomplishments

The varsity Cross Country team placed third in the conference. The JV team finished first in the conference and had six runners place in the Top Ten – (1) W. Borwege '16, (2) D. Rascher '16, (3) J. Boyle '17, (4) Q. Dolan '17, (6) C. Martin '19, and (10) J. Mejia '17.

The varsity Soccer team had a 13-3-1 record for the regular season and won the section championship. They placed third in the state in Class A.

The varsity Football team had a 7-1 record for the regular season. The team won the section championship and placed second in the state in Class AAAAA.

The Swimming & Diving team placed first in the conference and the section; the team won the True Team championships. The team was named the Section Academic Champions with a team average GPA of 3.68. The team completed its second "5peat" by winning the state Class A championship for the fifth consecutive time. Warren Sexson ’16 set meet records in the 200 free, the 500 free and the 400 free relay (with teammates Hunter Nielsen ’16, Eric Ruzicka ’16 and Tommy Weiss ’16). John Barnes has set a new record for the most Minnesota team state championships–15.

The Wrestling team had a great season. Three wrestlers – Dan Rascher '16, P. Skeps '19, and Quincy Spiering '16 – participated in the Class 2A state tournament. The team was recognized as the Class AA State Academic Champions with a Team GPA of 3.85.

The Hockey team placed second in the  conference. The team was seeded #1 in the section and ended the season as section runners-up.

The Basketball team had a regular season record of 7-19. They were seeded #5 in the section and ended the season as section runners-up. The team was named the MBCA Section Academic Champions.

The Alpine Ski team placed second in its section and sixth in the state with J. Folkman '20, J. Muske '18, C. Steel '21, J. Steel '18, and J. Zirnhelt '18 representing the Cadets. Coach Nelson Carlson '03 was named the MSHSL Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Nordic Ski team placed fifth in the conference and tenth in the section.

The Junior Gold B team was the league champion and state champion. The Junior Gold 16U was the state consolation champion.

The Golf team was conference co-champions (first time in more than 20 years), won the Section 3 championship for the third consecutive year, and placed fourth at the Class 3A State Tournament (the highest in 22 years). State participants were H. May ’19, B. Arnett ’19, Jack Graveline ’16, J. Rowe ’18, M. Donohue ’19 and A. Boemer ’20. Donohue and Arnett were also individual qualifiers for state.

The Baseball team had a regular season record of 11-7 and went deep in the sections, 2-2 in double elimination play.

The Lacrosse team finished 7-6 for the regular season and lost in the first round of sections.

The Tennis team finished the regular season 12-4, and went 1-1 in the sections. The JV Tennis team finished a good season with a 7-4 record.

The Track and Field team placed second in the True Team Meet and had more athletes qualify for the state meet prelims in more than 20 years – Josh Hallum ’16 in the 100m and 200m dash; Hunter Johnson ’16 in pole vault; and 4x400 (Hallum, K. Wright ’17, P. Corniea ’19 and Mark Bastiaens '16).
