Beginning Monday, April 22 the Aquatic Center project will begin with demolition of the Saint Thomas Academy swimming pool (original to the building, 1965).  For the next 14 months, construction of the Aquatic Center will require changes to traffic patterns and bus drop-off and pick-up.

Changes to Student Drop-Off (morning) and Pick-Up (afternoon):

  • Vehicles entering the parking lot from Lake Drive should turn right after entering the lot.  You will see yellow arrows designating one-way traffic lanes.
  • After dropping off, you can utilize two, double-turn lanes to exit the parking lot.
  • To exit to Mendota Heights Road, please stay in the far right turn lane
  • To exit to Lake Drive, please stay in the far left turn lane

Changes to Bus Drop-Off (morning) and Pick-Up (afternoon):

  • For morning drop-off, buses will now drop students on Lake Drive so that they may enter via the middle school doors.
  • For afternoon pick-up, buses will now pick up students on Lake Drive near the Brotherhood Drive entrance.

Please see the below map for a visual of the traffic pattern and bus information.

Thank you for your support at the recent Smack Shack event!  You can give HERE to support the Bennett Kotok Batting Cages.

An endowment fund has also been established in Bennett's memory, providing ongoing support for future Saint Thomas Academy Cadets, with a premiere launch taking place at the Community Auction on May 4.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Despite the sadness of the passing of Bennett Kotok '23, it was heartwarming to see our boys and families come together to support one another during the celebration of life for Bennett.

Many have asked how they can help the Kotoks going forward.  Below are a couple actions which will continue for the next year.  Presumably, there will be other one-off interactions and they are all encouraged!  Don't feel the need to include everyone if there is something you or a group or your son and their friends want to do...just do it!  These are some tough weeks right now as things are supposed to settle into a new normal and it's anything but normal.

Larry, Susan, Jack, and Simon will welcome the smallest gesture.  They don't want Bennett to be forgotten and they don't want to lose touch with the STA community.  That can't happen if what Bennett taught us lives on...do Good, pick up the phone, reach out, enjoy a sunrise/sunset, spread Joy, and Love One Another.

STA Scholarship -- The Kotok family is working with STA to figure out the best way to steward the generosity of so many in their gifts to STA in Bennett's memory.  This endowed scholarship will remain an option to which people and classmates can contribute to on an ongoing basis.  The endowed scholarship will premiere during the Community Auction on May 4.

Memory Collection -- 1-800-437-3009, invitation number 90979

Call this phone number and leave a recorded message with a memory or story for the Kotoks.  Although we weren't able to have the Memory Microphone at the prayer service, this is an even better opportunity to preserve the memories for the Kotoks.  The phone number will be active for one year and close just after the 1-year anniversary of Bennett's passing.  Call in often!  Call in and share a memory or something that makes you think of Bennett on any given day (e.g., something that happened in a baseball game or that Bennett would joke about, beautiful sunset).

Weekly Touches -- https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/60B0A4CADAF29A2FA7-47848705-weekly

Weekly Touches is our way of making sure the Kotoks feel the love of others on a weekly basis, especially this next year.  Each week, we would like someone (or a group or your son) to do something for them or in Bennett's memory.  Simple gesture examples are included in the Sign-up Genius link.  You can do one thing during the week, do one thing each day of the week, or do something at the beginning and the end of the week.  Please don't limit your connections with the family to only the week for which you have signed up.  Let that week be your motivation to connect every week or every so often.  It will take a long time for the grief to become an afterthought to a smile, but every little gesture gets them closer to that day.

Please share this information and invite anyone, not just STA families, to participate.  Moms, dads, sons, friends, and anyone who is so moved are welcome to help.

Thank you for YOUR kindness and efforts to keep Bennett alive in our hearts and actions. 💙

The Brigade Formal Inspection (BFI) will take place on Tuesday, April 23.

This inspection is a significant culminating event for the Corps of Cadets. It is a final report card for the senior leadership on how the Corps presents itself in 5 inspectable areas which include:

an in-ranks inspection worth 60%
accountability - 15%
command and staff briefing - 10%
Brigade review - 10%
Color Guard - 5%

The bulk of the inspection takes place during the in-ranks whereby every Cadet will be inspected for uniform, grooming and Basic Cadet Knowledge. A score of 90% or higher will determine if the Corps retains the coveted Gold Star and the "Honor Unit with Distinction" status (and of course...ties off/sleeves up Class B1 Uniform modification).

Please help your son prepare for his inspection by ensuring his uniform is cleaned and pressed, shoes are highly shined and he has a regulation haircut and shave. A reminder that this year's BFI uniform is Class A1 - that is white trousers, white shirt, tie, blouse coat, garrison cap and white gloves.

Athletics & Activities

The Saint Thomas Academy Athletic & Activities Department is excited to partner with Game-One in providing athletic gear tailored towards the wide variety of sports and activities we offer at Saint Thomas Academy. This 24/7/365 online store allows fans of all Saint Thomas Academy teams and activities to purchase gear that meets our brand standards.

Through the link above, you will be able to customize various types of clothing with a specific sport and the Saint Thomas Academy "ST" logo. Ordering from this site is easy. Once you are done customizing your product, they will ship it to your front door within 7-10 business days. Because each piece of clothing is unique (dependent on placement of the logo, font, color, etc.), purchases from this site are final. Game-One does not accept returns for their customized orders.

Currently, the site only has stores set up for athletic teams. They are currently creating the artwork for the activities we offer for upper and middle school Cadets. Future communication will be sent when the activities stores are up and running.

Individual sport programs will still have their "team stores" season-after-season with their vendors, depending on who the head coach prefers to work with for their team's apparel needs.  This store is an opportunity for fans of Saint Thomas Academy to purchase specific sports gear directly to their home, whether they live in Mendota Heights, MN or Albuquerque, New Mexico.
