Financing a Saint Thomas Academy Education

Established in 2016 by the AIM Higher Foundation to support middle school students who pursue Catholic based education at a Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.  Funds will support the student through the eighth grade.  

Scholarship is open to select Military Schools and Academies.  The Foundation seeks to provide educational opportunities for children of our military service families.
Criteria:
- Application should be from Gold Star (family members of a fallen soldier) families
- The following are taken into consideration: academic performance, behavior, essay submitted by the applicant, financial need of the family and overall compelling nature of the veteran family's situation.
Maintaining eligibility:
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA in a satisfactory amount of time
- Maintain behaviors that are consistent with the Foundation

Achieving Dreams (501c-3 organization) is a vessel for reaching out to the community to serve a mission of hope and offer youth and adults an opportunity to continue in organized activities and education that enlightens and improves the human condition.​

Volunteers of Achieving Dreams are people willing to band together to help these youth and adults succeed. Our program is entirely comprised of volunteers. All proceeds are focused on our mission to help families afford meaningful and positive experiences in organized activities and education. Challenges

The organization is set up for parent and their children to volunteer at an assortment of professional and college sports games. Their hours of volunteerism allows for the parents earn dollars that can go towards students tuition. The Pioneer Foundation is a 501c-3 organization that provides opportunities for families to volunteer their time at a variety of events. Each month checks are distributed to designated organizations along with a report showing who worked to donate those funds.  These monies do not belong to the workers; they belong to the organizations designated.  The funds are not income for the volunteer and do not belong to the volunteers.  The funds are paid to the Pioneer Foundation, which, in turn, forwards them to the churches, schools and charities designated by the volunteers at the events.  These funds are to be used at the discretion of the churches, schools and charities for the general good of the group, not as income for individual members or payment of fees.

General Concession Volunteer Information

Tartan Area Youth Enrichment, Inc. has contracted with Delaware North at Target Field in Minneapolis, with Centerplate at the H.H.H. Metrodome, and other various event promoters to staff concession stands with volunteer workers in exchange for a percentage commission on all sales in those stands. This has been a very fun and profitable fund-raiser.  What began in 2009 as a hockey fund-raiser has expanded to include the entire Tartan area and several neighboring communities. Volunteers have the opportunity to work at Twins baseball, Vikings football, high school tournaments, various trade shows and conventions, and many other special events.

Concession workers in our program are volunteers and are not paid for their work. They may designate a “share” of the proceeds of each event they work to various non-profit organizations to enrich the youth and/or community.  Each month checks are distributed to designated organizations along with a report showing who worked to donate those funds.  These monies do not belong to the volunteers; they belong to the organization designated. The funds are not income for the volunteers and do not belong to the volunteers.  The stand commissions earned are paid to the Tartan Area Youth Enrichment, Inc., which, in turn, forwards them to the various non-profit organizations designated by the volunteers. These funds are to be used at the discretion of the various non-profit organizations for the general good of the group, not as income for individual members. Tartan Area Youth Enrichment, Inc. is a tax-exempt 501c-3 organization and, as such, files returns with the federal and state governments. Our exempt status is based on the premise that volunteers are not paid for their work and are not employees. Volunteers are not covered by any worker’s compensation benefits through Tartan Area Youth Enrichment, Inc., the companies for whom we volunteer or the non-profit organizations that receive donations.

Headmaster’s awards recognize incoming students and current 8th grade students with strong academics who reflect Saint Thomas Academy's core values of faith, excellence, integrity and respect.  Varying amounts are given for up to four years.

The Board of Trustees Leadership Award is a merit-based scholarship for incoming students entering Grade 9 at Saint Thomas Academy.

This award recognizes outstanding boys who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and leadership promise. As a merit scholarship, this award is made without consideration of the student's financial need. Students entering Grade 9, with or without financial need, are eligible to apply. The award is open to current Saint Thomas Academy students as well as to students applying for admission to Grade 9.

The Middle School Leadership Award is a merit-based scholarship for incoming students entering Grade 6, 7 or 8 at Saint Thomas Academy.

This award recognizes outstanding students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and leadership promise. As a merit scholarship, this award is made without consideration of the student's financial need. Students entering Grade 6, 7 and 8, with or without financial need, are eligible to apply. The award is open to current Saint Thomas Academy students as well as to students applying for admission to Grades 6, 7 and 8.

Each year the top students who place highest on the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities) placement test given in January will receive a one-year academic scholarship. No application is required.
