Saint Thomas Academy has named Justin Hager dean of students for the upper school beginning with the 2021-2022 school year.
“Since coming to Saint Thomas Academy, Justin has invested himself into the development of our students, enhancing the cadet experience and contributing to the betterment of our community,” said Brian Edel, upper school director for Saint Thomas Academy. “I’m confident he will continue to make a positive impact in his new role.”
Hager joined the Academy in 2019 as an English teacher and assistant coach for both football and lacrosse. Prior to Saint Thomas Academy, he worked for Fessenden School in West Newton, Mass., another all-male private school. Hager graduated from Hobart & William Smith Colleges with bachelor’s degrees in political science and European studies. While in college, he played football and lacrosse and earned football All-American status in 2008. He went on to get his master’s degree in education from Mercer University. He is an avid outdoorsman and a licensed fishing and hunting guide.
“I am excited for the Dean of Students role because few positions offer a similar chance to build powerful relationships with every member of the community and to enhance the Academy’s standards of excellence,” Hager said. “This opportunity is rooted in student-centered interaction, as is it woven into the fabric of the Academy and works collaboratively across grades 9-12, departments, and academics and co-curriculars. I hope to assist in the development of better men, leaders, independent thinkers and citizens to help them go on to live lives of profound fulfillment.”
