Saint Thomas Academy has named Bobby Thompson ’14 head baseball coach. Thompson has experience coaching club baseball, high school baseball and summer baseball, and was an accomplished player when a student at Saint Thomas Academy.
“We are excited to keep continuity within the Cadet baseball program with Bobby as the next head coach,” said Greg May, athletics and activities director at Saint Thomas Academy. “He has worked with many of our rising players for the past several years and has built strong relationships with them and his coaching peers, thanks in part to his calm demeanor and level head.”
Thompson looks forward to continuing the success of Cadet baseball, a program in which he has been part of as both a player and as a coach. As a student-athlete, Thompson was named All-Conference, All-Section and captain of the team his senior year. Following graduation, Thompson played four years of club baseball at Iowa State University.
Most recently, he has been the Head B Squad Baseball Coach at Saint Thomas Academy, a position he held for the past three seasons. From 2016-2019, he spent four seasons as the Academy’s Head 15AAA Baseball Coach. Thompson then led the West Saint Paul Challenger Baseball Program for two seasons, from 2020-2021. In addition, he has been a coach and instructor at Great Lakes Baseball Academy in Woodbury since 2018.
Thompson has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and accounting from Iowa State University and a master's degree in sports management from Concordia University-Saint Paul.
