Spotlight Education, an educational initiative of the Hennepin Theatre Trust, has recognized VISTA Productions – the combined fine arts program of Visitation School and Saint Thomas Academy – with several honors for the company’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. The fall 2020 production was recognized as “outstanding” in the following categories:
- Achievement in Theatre
- Overall Production
- Overall Performance
- Ensemble Performance
- Acting Performance
- Run Crew
- Overall Technical Crew
- Light & Sound Crew
The cast and crew also received the following individual honors:
- Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role: Ethan Hiew STA ’21 of Mendota Heights and Laura Breyen VIS ’21 of Prior Lake.
- Honorable Mention in a Leading Role: Christopher Peters ’21 of Woodbury.
- Outstanding in Technical Leadership: Lizzie Nelson VIS ’21 of Minneapolis as sound designer, Adele Varley VIS ’21 of Minneapolis as assistant/student director and Edie Weinstein VIS ’21 of Saint Paul as stage manager.
- Honorable Mention in Technical Leadership: Amaia Walsh VIS ’23 of Saint Paul as scenic design & carpentry, Siobhan Dobie VIS ’22 of Saint Paul as costume coordinator, Rachel Schmidt VIS ’22 of Saint Paul as props master and Katie Hess VIS ’22 of Eagan as costume coordinator.
Noelle Wang VIS ’21 of Mendota Heights and Grace Richardson VIS ’22 of Minneapolis also received “shout-outs” from the evaluators.
Any individual student receiving an Outstanding or Honorable Mention honor is invited to perform in the Spotlight Showcase, a professionally produced, two-night event highlighting the hard work and talent of the students, educators, families and supporters of Minnesota’s high school theater community. Both nights of Showcase feature a variety of performances, honors and appearances from alumni, donors and sponsors. It’s the culmination of year-long evaluation, rehearsal process and collaboration with professional theatre makers.
