Glenn Leroy Fadden Jr. was born on January 25, 1922, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was raised by his two parents, Glenn Leroy Fadden Sr and Lillian M. Detman. Fadden Jr. was the oldest of his three siblings, which included himself, William, and Majorie.
He attended Saint Thomas Military Academy and graduated in 1941. He achieved the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant at the Academy. Afterwards, he attended the University of Minnesota, and before the Army, LT Fadden Jr. worked at Fadden Pump and Equipment Co., which was run by his father, Fadden Sr.
Fadden Jr. left on February 6, 1942, to enter the Armed Forces. He was in the 17th Infantry Regiment and 7th Infantry Division in 1943, which was when they attacked Attu Island. Glenn Leroy Fadden Jr. died at the age of 23. He was a first lieutenant at the time of his death.
Lt. Fadden Jr. was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal. He received the Bronze Star Medal on August 31, 1945. He was set to marry Betty Ann Harkness; however, his death occurred before the wedding was able to take place. His loss was and still is greatly mourned as he is remembered and honored for his courage and leadership exhibited throughout his time in the armed forces. He was buried in Fort Snelling after initially being buried in Okinawa.
